Blackrobats is a collaborative community project based in Kuranda, near Cairns in North Queensland.

The project aims to expand the horizons of young indigenous youth through workshops and performance opportunities. They are encouraged to develop skills and experience combined with safe and professional practices that will provide them with diverse and productive life skils.

Blackrobats fuses diverse cultural elements such as traditional Aboriginal dance, with contemporary youth cultures including hip-hop, break dancing, circus and physical theatre.

The troupe currently has approximately fifty young people between the ages of two and eighteeen and ten adults between the ages of nineteen and thirty seven that participate regularly.

The project is also in the process of establishing outreach workshops that will be held in indigenous communities throughout the region.

A wonderful inititative that is changing the lives of young men and women in the most wonderful of ways.
